Perris Elementary School District Celebrates New School Year With New Mission, Core Values & Logo
Perris, CA – August 19, 2024 – Perris Elementary School District (PESD) is kicking off the new school year with the unveiling of a new mission, core values, and logo, reflecting the deep changes made at the district over the past year. The nearly yearlong process for this transformation began in October 2023 and incorporated feedback from over 500 teachers, parents, students, and district staff.
This transformation was driven by Superintendent Bruce Bivins, who joined PESD last July. Under his leadership, PESD has revamped its programs and policies to align with a district-wide focus on community belonging, leadership for all, and academic excellence for every child.
"This is an exciting time for the Perris Elementary School District. Our new mission and core values reflect our commitment to every student's success and well-being,” stated Bivins. “The process we undertook to drive the changes we’ve made ensured that our school community's voice was heard, valued and acted upon.”
The new mission of PESD is: "Cultivating a supportive community that fosters belonging, inspires leadership, and ensures academic and personal success for every student." This mission encapsulates the district’s dedication to putting students first while fostering a nurturing and empowering atmosphere for all members of our school community.
The new core values are centered around three fundamental principles: Everyone Belongs, Everyone Leads, and Everyone Succeeds. These values are the cornerstone of our educational philosophy and serve as a Northstar, guiding the district’s every action and decision:

The new logo, designed by Michael Berger Creative, beautifully encapsulates the essence of the new mission and core values, radiating the joyful spirit that defines PESD. The vibrant colors represent the rich diversity of the community, while the earth tones pay homage to the surrounding rural landscape. At its heart, the prominent “P” serves as a focal point, symbolizing the district. Embedded within the signature P, the train tracks evoke the community’s historical roots as a railroad hub, while also resembling a playground slide, capturing the playfulness and joy that the district fosters in its schools.
The sun, delicately dotting the “I,” signifies a new beginning for the district, illuminating the path forward. The “I” also symbolizes the brilliance of each individual student, shining brightly with the ability to thrive and succeed. This thoughtful and innovative design is a visual embodiment of the district’s shared vision for a vibrant, inclusive, and dynamic future.
