Behavior Support and Information

In PESD we are proud to employ evidence-based behavior practices and interventions that focus on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and building strong relationships with our students. We strive to focus on behavior interventions that address the root cause of the behavior so that we can implement successful interventions as needed, as well as acknowledge and reinforce positive behavior. We understand that there are many facets to behavior change programs and will continue to rely on ethical guidelines, education law, and continuous training for teachers and staff, in an effort to employ the best possible practices for our students. It is our goal to ensure that students not only excel academically but behaviorally as well.

Our teachers and staff receive a variety of ongoing trainings, including the following core areas:

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

  • Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

  • Restorative Practices

Each of the aforementioned ongoing trainings are rooted in educational and behavioral research that include data to support their effectiveness in increasing positive behavior and decreasing problem behavior, while building strong communities in our classrooms and schools. We are proud to invest time and ongoing trainings into supporting our teachers and staff in these areas so that we truly offer a welcoming environment that utilizes practices which are supported by research.
