School Counseling Services
School Counseling Services
As school counselors, we are committed to supporting each student's academic, social/emotional, and college and career development through a comprehensive school counseling program. Our goal is to help students build the attitudes, knowledge, and skills necessary to reach their fullest potential and thrive both in school and beyond. To achieve this, we offer a range of services, including:
Individual Counseling
🔹Individual counseling sessions are held one-on-one with the school counselor in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. These sessions are designed to meet the unique needs of each student and focus on promoting personal growth and development. Sessions occur once a week over a six-week period.
Small-Group Counseling
🔹Small-group counseling typically runs for 4–6 weeks, with each session lasting about 30 minutes. Topics may include building confidence, friendship skills, regulation of self, social skills, self-efficacy, attendance and more. These sessions offer students a safe and supportive space to grow and develop important social-emotional skills.
Short-Term Individual Counseling
🔹Short-term individual counseling lasts approximately 4–8 weeks and is designed to help students develop skills that support their academic and personal success. These personalized sessions address specific needs and promote growth to enhance students’ overall school experience.
Social and Emotional Classroom Lessons
🔹Classroom guidance lessons are provided to ensure that all students benefit from the school counseling program. These lessons support social and emotional development, helping students build key life skills.
Collaboration with Staff and Families
🔹To support each student on a comprehensive level, collaboration and consultation are essential parts of the school counseling program. The school counselors work closely with parents, teachers, administrators, and other specialists to ensure that every student receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we create a team approach that bridges school and home, centered around student success.
Counseling Referrals
🔹While school counselors do not provide therapy, we can assist with referrals to outside counseling services if a student requires more intensive counseling supports beyond the school setting.
